Pop star, mother, film-maker, fashion designer and now perfumer? Yes, endlessly multi-tasking Madonna is set to add yet another string to her bow with the launch of her first fragrance this spring.
Teaming up with perfume powerhouse Coty, the multi-talented star has created the scent Truth Or Dare – the same title as her provocative 1991 documentary – to be launched in April. Madonna has worked with Givaudan perfumer Stephen Nilsen to create the composition of white flowers on an intensive gourmand background.
Nilsen is no stranger to celebrity perfumes, having previously worked on Hilary Duff's With Love and Sarah Jessica Parker's Dawn. Truth or Dare is being described as both light and dark, opening with notes of gardenia, creamy tuberose and neroli. The heart consists of jasmine, benzoin and white lily, the base of vanilla absolute, caramelised amber and sensual musk.
"My oldest memory of my mother is her perfume. I carry it with me everywhere," says Madonna. "She always smelled like gardenias and tuberose. An intoxicating mixture - feminine and mysterious." Truth or Dare is part of Madonna's new lifestyle brand, which will also include accessories, footwear, handbags, and intimates launches.
The brand will be aimed at women ages 27 to 50.
